New members plus timeless love songs? What do we have? Freestyle’s new live album! The Live @ 19 East album is Freestyle’s latest offering and also the first album the group released with its new members: Mike Luis, Joshua Desiderio and Rommel de la Cruz. This is also the last album they worked with Freestyle’s former bassist Carlo Tapia. The group did some great covers for the album and memorable love songs like After the Love Has Gone, Cherish and I Don’t Wanna Lose You. Mike Luis also did great versions on El Debarge covers Someone and Time Will Reveal. Joshua Desiderio, on the other hand, did the John Legend hit Ordinary People and the first single for this live album, Half Crazy, in a Joshua-soulful way. I love all Mike’s and Joshua’s renditions. I believe that this album is an incredible way to introduce its new members and how talented they are. When you hear the said songs, well, you’ll truly understand what I mean. But of course, who can’t forget the leading lady of the group! The oh-Jinky-can-only-do-that voice on the song One Hello is definitely remarkable. I’m happy to hear some crowd favorites on the album. The ones which I think people do always request during their gigs like Paul McCartney’s Ebony and Ivory, Lionel Richie’s Still and Michael Jackson hits: I Just Can’t Stop Loving You and The Girl is Mine. Those tunes will leave you the LSS or Last Song Syndrome. I also love the fact that the group featured the song Angel - originally done by one of my favorite artists Sarah McLachlan and also from one of my favorite movies City of Angels. But I have to say my favorite cut is Mark Sherman’s Changes in my Life. The group did great on the song. It was really a hit for me since I heard it during their gigs. All and all, the album do get two thumbs up from me. Freestyle’s one of the bands who releases splendid live albums. They had several platinum ones on their belts for the past years. And who can’t resist these timeless love songs eh? I then rest my case.
